Promises for the faithful
by GBC Ministry

Consider the following precious statements of fact.

"Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us."  Ephesians 3:20

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purposes."  Romans 8:28

"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."  1 John 5:4

Now consider the unalterable "qualifiers" in these verses.

(1) Would you like for the Lord to "do exceeedingly above all that [you] ask or think?"  Then do not impede His power in your life with sin and compromise.

"Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.      Isaiah 59:1, 2

(2) Would you like "all things [to] work together for [your] good?"  Then love God with your whole heart, mind, strength and soul.

"For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."  1 John 5:3

(3) Would you overcome the lust that is in the world, the lust that eventually brings death (James 1:13-15), and enjoy the true peace, joy and fellowship of the Lord and His Body, the Church?  Then live in sincere and active faith which manifests itself in sincere and active faithfulness as seen in sincere and active love.

"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also" James 2:26.

"Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us:and we ought to
lay down our lives for the brethren." 1 John 3:16

In other words, we perceive (see) the Lord in one another through the genuine, self-sacrificing
love we exercise towards one another.  In this the Lord is pleased, and His Body blessed.

May God bless your meditations on and response to these simple and practical applications of His holy Word today.
